Getting back to the island life...

Rummaging through the summer wardrobe that was screaming to be set free, I came across a high waisted Hawaiian print skirt I found a summer ago. Though I can't quite put a finger on the thrift store where I came across this find, I had yet to give it any wear this year. It seemed fitting for the yearning I've been experiencing for life back on an island (this will happen soon! two more weeks!) I felt it was appropriate that my skirt matched my feelings exactly. The top was found curtsey of Buffalo Exchange, Georgetown. I spent some of my Memorial Day weekend re-living my childhood summers on a swing set with friends I hadn't seen for a long time. Memorial Day weekend was just full of nostalgia. Photo cred: Richard T. Fields.

Boho in the City

Today I spent a little time on H street and went to &Pizza for lunch. I decided to put some wear into my "Isabelle" coin necklace. I found it on sale at the Urban Outfitters in Chinatown DC. I think it's going to be one of my favorite summer accessories. Photos shot by Richard T. Fields. Outfit details below.

New York Weekend

Last weekend I experienced my first visit to the Brooklyn Bridge. I have been to New York many times before, but until last weekend I had yet to see the famous bridge. The visit had not been part of my plans in New York that weekend, but on Sunday morning, I woke up and had this impulse to see the bridge for the first time.
I woke up early to make the journey from Bronx to Brooklyn on the train.  I was fortunate to arrive at the time I did. As soon as I finished taking photos, I immediately noticed how populated the bridge had become since my arrival. Photographs don't seem to give the bridge justice. There is something so beautiful about the wooden boards of the bridge, and their good condition despite the many travelers that walk across them each day.
I also spent some time in the Williamsburg neighborhood of Brooklyn. I took a stop into the Buffalo Exchange in Brooklyn, which was absolutely amazing. I was able to get through their doors about 15 minutes before they closed, so…

Blogger Spotlight: All Things Amma Mama

Just a weekend ago, I had the opportunity to take photos of Amma Appiah, creator of All Things Amma Mama. What I love most about Amma's blog beyond all of her amazing fashion, photography, and personal style posts is her positive energy and dedication to covering so many unique stories, events, and coverage of such diverse groups of people- from photographers, painters, jewelry makers, musicians and so many more. It is truly amazing. You can see her blog here: The photos from the shoot are below!
