New York Weekend

Last weekend I experienced my first visit to the Brooklyn Bridge. I have been to New York many times before, but until last weekend I had yet to see the famous bridge. The visit had not been part of my plans in New York that weekend, but on Sunday morning, I woke up and had this impulse to see the bridge for the first time.

I woke up early to make the journey from Bronx to Brooklyn on the train.  I was fortunate to arrive at the time I did. As soon as I finished taking photos, I immediately noticed how populated the bridge had become since my arrival. Photographs don't seem to give the bridge justice. There is something so beautiful about the wooden boards of the bridge, and their good condition despite the many travelers that walk across them each day.

I also spent some time in the Williamsburg neighborhood of Brooklyn. I took a stop into the Buffalo Exchange in Brooklyn, which was absolutely amazing. I was able to get through their doors about 15 minutes before they closed, so I didn't have much time at all to really explore. I am a horrible shopper under pressure! Somehow I managed to get an awesome vintage leather bag before they shut me out of the store!

My ride back to DC was bittersweet. I had a great time in New York. There is so much more I want to see and do on my next visit. For more New York photos see the Travel section.
